To Be Fully Known
I think one of our primary human desires is to be FULLY KNOWN and LOVED for who we are. Sometimes in life this doesn’t even seem possible….and honestly perhaps it is NOT attainable from other PEOPLE. We often don’t share EVERYTHING about our past or thoughts with others because we carry shame and embarrassment. The last thing we want is to invite more judgement! It seems that yearning to be known is natural.
We long for people in our lives who REALLY know us AND still choose to LOVE and ACCEPT us despite all of our imperfections and weakness.
Psalm 139 states when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that HE KNOWS US. That deep felt yearning to be FULLY KNOWN is fulfilled with JESUS….as my grandmother would say “warts and all”. Jesus knows it ALL, He knows you like no human could EVER know you AND YET……STILL LOVES YOU enough to die for you! The ONE who truly DOES KNOW YOU, chose to DIE for you to be FREE. That is so incredibly powerful!!!!
....and there is NOWHERE on this whole big, beautiful planet we call Earth that we can go where He is not with us! NOWHERE. Everywhere we go, His hand is there to guide us.
Sometimes we think we can hide or that somehow God isn’t gonna notice that thought or thing. We can’t hide a single thing from God. I know you already know that. WAIT!….hold on just a second – don’t let condemnation bury you. God is a redeeming God if you repent of those things that you don’t share with others. Those things that aren’t fully known by the entire human race. But God….ALREADY knows them anyway, why not repent and walk free from those vices of shame and embarrassment? It truly is time to quit carrying them and accepting them as part of your forever story.
Jesus wants us to surrender it all to Him so that we can enjoy the sweetness of being truly known by Him. He didn’t die on the cross so that we could continue to carry guilt and shame. He wants us to be free. He wants us to be free to live the life He created us for. When we choose to stay buried under the despair of things gone by, we are not living in the true freedom of Jesus. So if I may push you a little bit, let not another day pass. Not one more day carrying anything that is not of Jesus. Pray on what God would have you release to Him once and for all and pray over John 8:36, one of my absolute favorite scriptures. The Son WILL set you free and you WILL BE FREE INDEED. Believe it my friends….for it is the very word of God!
