Are You Breaking God’s Heart?

When life backs you into a corner (whether it be finances, medical, family, friendships, etc), what is your first move? Do you immediately start troubleshooting and analyzing what is available to you to solve the dilemma? Do you call a friend or parent? Do you pop a pill? Do you break down, cry and admit defeat? Google it? We have so many resources available to us to handle the troubles in our life. We often run after all these answers and then when we have done everything else in our power, THEN we stop to pray. THEN we think about what God might do through our circumstances. I want to encourage you that prayer should be your first stop.
For so many reasons we need to put our concerns before the Creator of the Universe first and foremost.
We reason things out in our own minds and act like we shouldn’t bother God with our difficulties. Do you ever think how much it must break God’s heart when we don’t even ASK Him for help? Can you imagine your child or closest friend not asking you for help with something that you could have easily solved because they didn’t want to bother you? It would break your heart a little bit…that they essentially chose the struggle over confiding in you. Just the same, we are breaking God’s heart when we don’t come before Him with our trials. God is our Heavenly Father and WANTS us to ask, seek & knock when we are in a trial.

He wants us to trust that He IS a loving Father who will provide and guide our path. He wants this for all of us who profess Him as Lord of our life and then turn around and do things in our own power. He wants us heart and soul to know and trust Him. This means believing heart and soul that He is worthy, capable and willing to bless and guide us for His purposes. This doesn’t mean that God is a vending machine of our every desire, but it means we should turn to Him first in our times of trial. We should believe that he is capable and willing to answer our prayers, as long as those prayers are in alignment with His will.
So the next time things are going sideways, ask God for direction, provision, healing, etc. Then listen, be silent before Him and see if He is directing you to the answer. It will be in God’s timing, not yours. It will be in God’s way, not yours. God’s ways are not our ways. However, trust that God will use everything in your crazy circumstances for his glory, in ways that you could have never foreseen or imagined.

When you have done all of the above and taken a moment to breathe and LISTEN to the Lord, THEN pray to see what God would have YOU do. THEN see what resources, solutions, counsel, etc is available to you….but trust God is in it all. Even if the pieces of the mess keep piling up, allow yourself the very powerful and peaceful thought that God is in it and using it in ways you can’t possibly fathom. You can trust Him and THROUGH YOUR STRENGTH IN HIM you are stronger than you could ever imagine. Allow God to strengthen you through the trials instead of accepting defeat.
