Almighty God is Mightier Than the Election

In such a tumultuous political scene as the current days of our election, it is easy to be overcome by fear and desperation. We must not be sucked into the negative narrative of the media who do not believe in our Almighty God. Dare I say they scoff at anyone who DOES put their trust in God. We should all pray for those that provide the news of our day; it would appear that most have not had a personal experience with Jesus and do not know the peace that we know. If you are struggling in this political climate I want to take you by the shoulders and shake you a bit…and then give you a nice long pre-Covid hug….and remind you that it doesn’t matter who is elected GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE!
Daniel 2:20-21 Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding
God can use for his purposes whoever is elected as President of the United States of America. Please allow me to take a moment and encourage you to be civic minded and vote for the candidates (all the way down the ballot) that exemplify your biblical values. There is no scripture in the Bible that talks about voting, but I do believe that we are extremely blessed to live in a democracy where we vote in our elected leaders. We have a responsibility to not sit back, but to do our part to elect officials that we believe will govern with the same values that we hold. You may say that God is in control, I don’t need to vote. God is in control without question, but I believe just as the farmers must sow the seed for God to bring it to harvest we also have a responsibility to vote for leaders with bibilical values. There are many places around the world where Christians are openly persecuted by their government. The citizens of these nations do not have any control over their leaders and they would be so grateful to have the opportunity to have input on their governing authorities. We should not take our right to vote for granted.
God has used many less than desirable leaders in the Bible for his purposes. Whether the officials we voted for are elected or not, we need to remember that we are first and foremost CHRISTIAN before we are Democrat, Republican or third party. We need to trust God above all, not our elected officials. It is easy to get all kinds of emotions stirred up with the news and social media, but we need to stand firm that we trust God’s greater purpose in whatever the results of the elections may be. This is truly the only place we will find any peace. It would appear that no matter who is elected into whatever office there will be a lot of angry people after the election. Let’s stand in peace and hope that our God has a bigger plan than we can understand. Let’s not get sucked into the agendas of the media culture.
John 19:10-11 So Pilate said to him [Jesus], “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” 11 Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above.”
Even the seemingly most tragic story of Pilate allowing a dangerous, career criminal to go free and Jesus to be crucified was used for OUR ETERNAL SALVATION. Think of the horrific picture of what Jesus went through before and during his crucifiction and the injustice of it all. THIS is what God used to eternally cleanse us from sin! It is so clear that God is where our trust should lie, not in any elected official. God is truly and ultimately in charge, let that bring us comfort beyond our own understanding.
Romans 13:1-5 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
