What is your first response when you are hit with unexpected disappointing news? There often seems to be a very logical “what if?” rabbit trail that is all too available for us to skip down until we are buried in worry, doubt and fear…..or at the very least uncertainty. Do you do this?
It occurred to me recently that as Christians, we should turn the “what if?” questioning upside down. WHAT IF we asked the same question, but in a divine sense? Instead of assuming the latest unwanted circumstance would lead to pain, WHAT IF we believed the unexpected was the first ingredient to the most incredible outcome? WHAT IF God was going to use the hardest situations in your life to strengthen you into something that you could have never achieved outside of that circumstance?
I’m not saying that God is responsible for the struggle, but I can guarantee God will use it. WHAT IF we looked at everything from this perspective? WHAT IF everything that has gone wrong for you in the last year was to redirect you to where you were destined to be? WHAT IF that? WHAT IF all the things that been more difficult than you thought you could get through gave you a testimony to help every person that you meet for the rest of your days? Would YOU have chosen the trial to achieve the strength….I would NOT have….but WHAT IF it was everything you needed to lead a life that glorified God and was more fulfilling in every way imaginable.
So I’m going to challenge you. In this world where there is:
*local and global news about things out of our control
*expenses/inflation/employment insecurities
*chronic or unexpected medical issues for yourself or loved ones
*relational difficulties with anyone in your life
*[insert HERE every struggle EVER]
WHAT IF you permanently REPLACED the WHAT IF rabbit trail of despair for an excitement of what God is going to do? WHAT IF instead of fretting, worrying or losing hope over these things we TRULY BELIEVED for God to do something amazing? I’m not saying it will be easy or turn out how you would have handled it, but WHAT IF it was still incredible? I can personally attest that God NEVER does things the way I would have done them. He is way more concerned about the transformation than us living a life on easy street. God’s plans are so much bigger than our plans are, which means we can’t stay where we are. We have to be willing to trust him through whatever today holds. WHAT IF we believed for the impossible, INSTEAD OF fretting the horrible? WHAT IF?
I challenge you to really look your struggles straight in the face and ask WHAT God is going to do through it. Dream, believe and trust that God will do the miraculous and you will be on the front lines watching God do something incredible. Will you accept my challenge?
